What we store, and for how long.

MicBridge handles recorded conversations, so this page is specific rather than reassuring. It describes what actually happens to your data.

Who this covers

MicBridge is operated by Techvora. Two kinds of people use it: station staff, who hold accounts, and guests, who do not. What is stored differs for each, and both are described below.

What we collect from station staff

  • Your name and email address, because an account needs both.
  • A one-way hash of your password. The password itself is never stored and cannot be recovered from the hash.
  • Session records so you can stay signed in, including the browser you signed in from and a one-way hash of your IP address — never the address itself.
  • The interviews you create and the recordings they produce.
  • Security and administrative events in the audit log: sign-ins, invitations, role changes, interview and recording actions.

What we collect from guests

A guest gives a display name. That is the whole of it. There is no guest account, no password, no profile and no tracking. MicBridge additionally stores:

  • The times the guest joined and left the interview.
  • The record of their agreement to be recorded, with its timestamp and the version of the notice they were shown.
  • A one-way hash of their IP address, used for rate limiting and the audit trail.

A guest link grants access to exactly one interview. It gives no access to any other session, to station data, or to the resulting recording.

Live audio

Live audio travels over WebRTC, which encrypts media between each participant and the media service that mixes and records it. That service is a third-party provider configured by your station; it necessarily processes the audio in order to record it.

For that reason MicBridge does not describe itself as end-to-end encrypted. A call that is recorded on a server cannot honestly be called end-to-end encrypted, and we would rather say so than borrow the phrase.

Recordings

  • Recording never starts automatically. Every participant present must have agreed first, and an obvious indicator is shown for as long as recording is running.
  • Finished audio is stored privately. It is never publicly readable and is never served from a permanent URL.
  • Downloads are issued as short-lived signed links, and only to the interview's host or an administrator.
  • Guests do not receive access to recordings.

How long recordings are kept

Recordings are deleted automatically. The retention period is set by your station’s administrator and defaults to 30 days from the recording. Every recording displays the date it will be deleted, so the deadline is never a surprise.

Deletion removes the stored audio from storage. It is not a flag that hides a row while the file survives. A host or administrator can also delete a recording at any time before expiry, with the same effect.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, and no sale or sharing of personal data with advertisers.
  • No third-party analytics or tracking scripts on the application.
  • No transcription, summarisation or other processing of conversation content.
  • No use of your recordings to train machine-learning models.

Your choices

Station staff can change their name, email address and password from Settings, and can sign out of sessions on other devices. Hosts can delete their own interviews and recordings. Administrators can disable an account, which ends its sessions immediately.

If you took part in a MicBridge interview as a guest and want the recording removed, ask the presenter who invited you — they control it, and can delete it on request.

Compliance

Techvora makes no certification claim for MicBridge. It holds no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or equivalent attestation, and this page is not a statement of GDPR compliance. What MicBridge does instead is collect as little as it can, delete recordings on a schedule, and document precisely what it keeps so that you can make your own assessment.
